Well, it’s been a quiet day on the network. No further attacks, and George was humming quietly to himself while he worked. kinda scary really,… I know he was running firewall software through the new machine, and getting it all set up. Just not sure what else he was working on. At least the server room no longer looks like a bomb went off in it.However, I am curious to know what the big antenna is doing out. maybe I don’t want to know!
Kevin stayed in bed with a cold. The change of weather nailed him. Woke up to snow. sigh We told him what happened after we left his house. He gave George a few extra ideas and then crawled back in bed. Between the two of them, they set up this program that will eat a computer alive. I don’t really understand the technical side of it, but I understand that I never want to piss either of them off! Especially if I still want to have a computer. It has something to do with a basic “clean up” command that makes the hard drive clean the same bit over and over. Totally ruins it.
I got some of my paperwork done and even caught up on the office email. Still wary about the whole thing though. It is really scary when you think about how much of your life is on your computer or the Internet. Just type your name in some time and see how many pieces come back in a search engine like Google. six hits right off the bat! gads!!!
No word from George though on who the hacker was. Granted, we haven’t had a lot of extra time to try and figure things out. Work orders swamped us. Always does when we have a Monday holiday. We had two service calls today and six more for the rest of the week. One of them was an ex-Hodges customer. George has to be back at 8am to finish that job. Not good. After that, he gets to go out to one of our senior citizens. Mr. Woods is a nice man, and lonely, but what should be a 30 minute job is always a 3 hour one. Once he discovered that George was military once upon a time, he latched on like a pit bull. Most days George is nice and just listens when he should head home.
George and Kevin both expect our hacker to try again in a few days. Sort of lulling us into thinking we’re safe and then hit us again. I hope not!
