shhhh….. headache…..

July 14, 2008

Woke up this morning feeling like I’d run into a parked car. My head and right shoulder ached so bad I called George and told him I wouldn’t be in today. Then I downed enough aspirin for a small army and went back to bed.

Around 5pm, I heard my door open. I crawled out of bed and looked out into the living room. Kelly, Jim and George were in my living room with bags and something that smelled good in their hands. They’d brought me dinner! Oh yum! Steak, baby portebello mushrooms and crescent rolls. Heaven!

Now we are going to continue the Babylon 5 fest we started on Saturday. We watched all of Season 4 over the weekend between computer “help!” calls and a trip to the grocery store. Tonight we are only watching a couple of episodes. My headache is quiet for now and I want it to stay that way.

Thunderstorms and antennas

June 17, 2008

On the weekend, I was an absolute slug! I did get George and Kevin to come over. They brought fried chicken, some sort of Thai soup and lots of popcorn. We must have watched Babylon 5 for 8 hours! And that was just between Friday night and Saturday. Sunday we went out to the lake and we watched Brandy and Kevin play in the lake. Silly dog! She had so much fun chasing sticks far out into the water.

Yesterday, George and Kevin made sure I was safely in the office and then went to put the antennas back up on the tower. Kevin worked safety while George climbed the tower. It wasn’t too bad they said, until the wind picked up.

George was way up on the tower when a gust of wind nearly blew him off!

He lost his hard hat, and that nearly hit Kevin! So, he hurried up and got the new copper halo done and added the last of the antenna mountings and got down fast. By the time he was down, the thunder clouds had rolled in and lightning had started popping all over the place. George was freaking out about how fast that storm rolled in!

Kevin took pictures for me, which was cool and scary all at the same time. I hope to be able to go back out in the field later in the week.

My knee is much better now. It still twinges and I use the cane for long walks, like the store, but… I don’t need it just to get to the bathroom! I know that sounds silly, but you get up in the middle of the night needing to go and try to maneuver a cane. It isn’t as easy as it sounds.

My sister came by to visit and help me with my laundry. Mom had stopped by and brought me some chocolates and a tub of Godiva dark chocolate ice cream. Yummmm! Can you tell what I had for dinner? I’ll waddle to bed!

Stairs are Evil!!!

June 13, 2008

They really are. Especially if you are having to walk up them slowly! With a cane! I must have taken five minutes to get up 10 steps. Disgusting! Frustrating. Grrrrr!!!

As it is, I only stayed at work part of the day. I think something loosened up in the night and I was in a lot more pain than I had been yesterday. Or, if you go by George’s outlook, I hurt more because I was using it more. Either way, I hurt!

So, I’ve come home and curled up with my laptop and snacks. I also have a new addiction. Babylon 5. George and Kevin watched it when it was on tv, and now they watch it on DVD. George brought over the first series and I am working my way through it one disk at a time. I have to call him on occasion to have bits of the plot explained or just to discuss things. It’s actually a decent show.

Hmm, maybe I’ll call George and Kevin to come over with some dinner and we can watch Babylon 5 till we go cross-eyed.
