Awwwgh……

August 7, 2008

I just didn’t want to get out of bed today. Not that I slept well, but more because it was finally cool! It started to rain last night and did so on and off all night. This morning, it was all misty and damp. And I am so tired.

Trying to keep up with George the “invalid”, has worn me out. I swear that half my work at the office is ‘fetch this!’ and ‘Gemma! Would you please?’ just as I sit down. He gets his arm out of the sling today if the doctor likes how it looks. We finally got all of the cactus out and all the punctures healing up. If he gets free of the sling, George will start physical therapy. Ugh.

Kevin is ready for George to be healthy too. One of the routers decided to be balky. One of the ones Al messed up. Poor Kevin had to go out in the rain and try and fix it. Good thing he didn’t have to climb the tower. However, sitting in a 10×10ft Tuff shed in an electrical storm is no fun. Every third word in one conversation was punctuated by the ‘crash! Boom!‘ of thunder and lightning. Plus, the phone has not stopped ringing. My favorite customer called to ask about his cookies again. What is wrong with this man? I asked Kevin not too long ago and he just rolled his eyes.

I went and spent some money on a new blouse. I’ve got a party to go to this weekend. :) Should be fun. A bunch of people I went to school with are going to be in town visiting family and we are all going to get together.

Well, I can hear George moving about. He has to be to the drs. by noon. Bye for now!

Penguins, wolves and thunderstorms

July 19, 2008

Yesterday when I left the office, I didn’t even get to my truck before the skies opened up and dumped. Drop, drip, whooooossssshhhh! I was soaked. This is scary as my truck is parked about 50ft. away from the office front door.

And, I’m happy to report that my laptop case kept my computer dry. I was bringing it home to work on Linux. George and Kevin are trying to switch all of the office computers over to some flavor of Linux.  yes, there are penguins all over the office. Kevin uses Ubuntu. George uses Ubuntu and Wolvix. I got given a hard drive with Wolvix on it to play with on my laptop. In a few minutes I’ll be exchanging hard drives and take it for a walk.   yeah, bad joke… wolvix, walk…

If it all goes wrong, George gets to deal with a screaming person on the other end of the phone for once.

Wish me luck!
